Captain’s Kick-off Party For 2012 Chattanooga Mud Run Is Tuesday

Thursday, May 10, 2012

There will be a Captain’s Kick-off for the 2012 Chattanooga Mud Run on Tuesday, from 5:30–7 p.m. at Green Spaces, for anyone interested in being a captain.

The Captain’s Kick-off is a great way for those interested in the Chattanooga Mud Run to get more information about the race, form a team and get to meet their competition. Light refreshments will be served. Green Spaces is at 63 East Main Street.

“This kick-off will give teams a leg up on the competition because they will get the inside information about the Chattanooga Mud Run,” said Tina Shaw-Cox, director of Development at Green Spaces.

The Chattanooga Mud Run sponsored by Capital Toyota & Toyota of Cleveland will be a 5K-style run featuring a military-style obstacle course with most of the obstacles surrounded by (or consisting entirely of) mud. Last year, over 1,800 participants ran, jumped and crawled through the mud. Teams will get down and dirty through muddy belly crawls, slippery hill climbs, mazes, wooden walls and mud pits. The course is achievable for all competitive levels and is intended for active enthusiasts looking for a unique challenge. Space is limited though to only 425 teams consisting of five participants per team ages 14 and up.

“The Captain’s Kick-off a great opportunity for participates to learn about the new and exciting features we are adding to the 2012 Chattanooga Mud Run,” said Dawn Hjelseth, director of Volunteers at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area.

The Chattanooga Mud Run is sponsored by Capital Toyota & Toyota of Cleveland, Tennessee Valley Credit Union, Raymond James, Power Solutions, Hippie Radio 106.9, The Pulse, Maxi Auto, News Channel 9, the Tennessee National Guard, BlueCross Blue Shield of Tennessee, Greenlife Grocery, and Coca Cola.

Roy Exum: Hypocrisy And Horses

I am still wincing over the fact a horrendous bill passed in the state legislature that would make whistle-blowers into criminals would have actually gone into law had it not been for Governor Bill Haslam’s eleventh-hour veto. Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
