Sallie Mae Shropshire, 72, died on May 10, 2012 at a local hospice facility. 

She was employed by Blood Assurance.

She was preceded in  by her parents, Andrew and Martha Brooks.

Survivors include her husband, Nathaniel Shropshire; son, James B. Smith; daughter, Jacqueline R. Gunn; granddaughter, Chelsea D. Gunn; stepsons, Nathaniel (Lisa) Shropshire, Jr. and Alan Burney; stepdaughters, Alicia Spencer and Tandra Carter; a host of grand, great-grandchildren and friends; special family friends, Gilda Patton and Lisa Martin.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 14, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Bobby Black officiating. Interment will be in Shephard Community Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Sunday, May 13, with the family receiving friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.

Woman Found Dead On Lovell Road; Police Looking For Terry Releford

A woman was found dead on Sunday morning at 8912 Lovell Road, and police are seeking a "person of interest" in the case.
