Betty June Carnes, 80, of Hixson, died on Friday May 11, 2012. 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Ola Campbell and three brothers, Walker, Ben and Jack Campbell.

Betty Carnes (Granbetty) was a wonderful helpmate to her husband Charlie. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a wonderful example of a Godly woman that was an example to everyone she crossed paths with. We know that the angels rejoice over her arrival in heaven. She was a Christian who worshiped at Red Bank Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Charles A. Carnes, daughter, Jennie (Steve) Carnes Berry of Chattanooga; two sons, Jeff (Annette) Carnes of Gallatin, Tn., Gregory (Jan) Carnes of Florence, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Micah (Trent) Mynatt, Meredith Berry and Taylor Berry all of Chattanooga, Kaitlin (Jared) Carlson, Birmingham, Alabama, Ben Carnes, Florence, Alabama, Will Carnes and Clay Carnes, both of Gallatin, Tn.; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Red Bank Church of Christ with Ministers Steve Lusk and Tommy Stone officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace, and from 12-1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 14, at the Red Bank Church of Christ in the Small Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boyd Buchanan School,  in care of the Charles and Betty Carnes Endowment Fund, 4626 Bonnieway Dr., Chattanooga, Tn. 37411.
