Walker, Albert Lewis (Chatsworth)

Albert Lewis Walker, 81, of Chatsworth, Ga., died Friday evening, May 11, 2012 at the Quinton Memorial Health Care Center in Dalton, Ga. 

Albert was born November 16, 1930 in Wayne, West Virginia, a son of the late George and Sarah Robinson Walker. Albert proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army and Air Force. Albert worked many years at Smith and Green Construction and with the Whitfield County School System as a custodian. He was a member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Geneva Hughes Walker; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita Walker of Indianapolis, Ind, Fostene and Calvin Wimpy of Chatsworth, Shontene and Darrell Belcher of Cleveland and Nina and Jimmy Williams of Dalton; son, Breland Walker of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother, Sib Walker of Dalton; sister, Mandy Hampton of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Dewight and Briana Lawson, Corey Wimpy, Kaitlin Wimpy, Taylor Belcher, Blake Belcher, Brooke and Festus Burnette, Rachel Lefler, Samantha Lefler, Crystal Walker, Charlana and Zach Holcomb, Bobby and Lacey Williams; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Albert Lewis Walker will be held Monday, May 14, at 1 p.m. at the Church of God of the Union Assembly with Reverend Lonnie Starnes and Reverend Charlon Bradford officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Whitfield Memorial Gardens. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112.

The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m. Sunday, May 13 and after 11 a.m. Monday, May 15 until the funeral hour at the Ponders Melrose Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
