Joe Louis Griffin, 71, of Dalton, Ga., died Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the V. A. Hospital in Nashville.
He was retired from the City of Dalton Recreation Department and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Henry Griffin and Mrs. Mary N. Griffin.
Survivors are his four sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Easley of Powder Springs, Ga., Mrs. Mable Parker, “Little Sis” Mrs. Sharon (Mike) Whitener of Dalton and Mrs. Imogene (Ray) Burse of Walker County; two brothers, Mr. William C. (Mary) Griffin of Indianapolis, Ind. and Mr. George (“Hub”) (Eloise) Griffin of Dalton; special nephew, Mr. Demetrius Griffin of Dalton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 16, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Willis Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry D. Jones, Sr., Eulogist and Bishop Reuben Graham officiating. His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Tuesday after 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday, May 16. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
