Three Red Bank High School athletes are facing aggravated burglary charges

An aggravated burglary on Missionary Ridge could cast long shadows over Red Bank High School and its athletic program.

Three of the accused defendants were members of Red Bank’s football and basketball teams last year. The fourth, according to Internet postings he has made, is an ardent fan.

On May 4, Chattanooga police records indicate a North Crest Road resident spotted Red Bank Lions basketball player Xavier Moore – assisted by teammate Ivan Newson – trying to break into her house by crawling through her doggie door.

Moore’s brother, Alric, and Red Bank football player Niquia McDuffie stood nearby acting as lookouts, the woman told investigating officers.

The first of what is likely to be many court appearances for McDuffie and Alric Moore is scheduled for July 17, when the two will be brought before General Sessions Court Judge Christie Sell on aggravated burglary charges.

The cases against Newsome and Xavier Moore, who are younger, will be handled in Hamilton County Juvenile Court.
