Upgrade Of 115 Traffic Signals To Begin Soon

The City Traffic Engineer’s office announced on Monday that Traffic Engineering/Operations expects to start in two weeks upgrading traffic signal equipment at 115 signalized intersections along 14 arterials within the City of Chattanooga, City of Red Bank and City of East Ridge, including:

1.       Brainerd Road from Elmwood Drive to East Brainerd Road

2.       North and South Terrace from Germantown Road to Spring Creek Road

3.       East 23rd Street from Dodds Avenue to Rossville Boulevard (plus Rossville Boulevard/Central Avenue)

4.       4th Avenue from I-24 Eastbound Ramp to East 23rd Street

5.       Rossville Boulevard from 28th Street to 48th Street (plus Dodds Avenue/44th Street)

6.       Dodds Avenue from East 23rd Street to Citico Avenue

7.       Ringgold Road from South Seminole Drive to Frawley Road

8.       Lee Highway from Airport Road to Bonny Oaks Drive

9.       Shallowford Road from Hickory Valley Road to Gunbarrel Road

10.    East Brainerd Road from Vance Avenue to Graysville Road

11.    Signal Mountain Road from Mountain Creek Road to US-27 Southbound Ramp

12.    Dayton Boulevard from Signal Mountain Road to Browntown Road

13.    Morrison Springs Road from Red Bank High School Access to Dayton Boulevard

14.    SR-153 from DuPont Parkway to Boy Scout Road (plus Hamill  Road /Northpoint Boulevard)

The signal equipment at these intersections will be upgraded together with a wireless mesh network communication system currently being installed by the City of Chattanooga Information Services Division. This project, which is funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) Program, is anticipated to be completed by mid to late July of 2014.  During this time, the traffic signals may be out of sync from time to time and could cause some delays for motorists.  Drivers are asked to be patient as with the transition to this new signal system.

Street Closings Announced For The Weekend

Feds Dismiss Criminal Charges Against Rarity Developer Mike Ross

Federal authorities have dismissed an indictment against Mike Ross, the developer of a floundering Rarity Club project at Nickajack Lake in Marion County.
