Stansell, Bobby Joe "Bob" (LaFayette)

Bobby Joe “Bob” Stansell, 79, formerly of LaFayette, Georgia, died on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, In.  

He was born in LaFayette, and served in the U.S. Army, spending 16 months in Korea with the 91st MP Battalion. Bob worked for Chrysler Corporation and was actively involved in the UAW, working his way up to President of Local 136 in Fenton, Mo. He was appointed to the International Union Staff for Chrysler in Detroit, MI and served as the assistant director and administrative assistant to the vice president of the Chrysler Department before retiring in 1989.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Tootie; step-daughter, Alice Sexton and her husband, Tony; two grandsons, David Sexton and his wife, Missy, and Jeff Sexton and his wife, Sara; four great-grandchildren, all of Evansville, In.; brother, Riley Stansell, Columbus, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery in LaFayette. 

Memorial contributions can be made on Bob’s behalf to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, Inc., 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, N.Y. 10305.
