Charles David Stewart Sr, 73, of Resaca, Ga., died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, surrounded by his loving family. 

Charles was born September 26, 1938 in Madison County, Ala. to the late Ellis and Martha Bailey Stewart; and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Veronica Stewart; his sister, Jenny Pruitt; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Stewart.

Charles is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane Stewart; children and spouses, Eddie and Frieda Stewart of Resaca, Charles Jr. and Tina Stewart of Resaca, Candace and Terry Green of Dalton, Tonya and Tony Hunter of Plainville, Ga., Rhonda and Jimmy Edge of Resaca and Krista Stewart of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ellis and Beatrice Stewart of Chatsworth, James Stewart also of Chatsworth, Edith and Arnold Doran of Crossroads, Ala.; and brother-in-law, Robert Pruitt; and 16 grandchildren. 

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles David Stewart will be held Tuesday, May15 at 1 p.m. at Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Benny Thomas and Reverend Gary Jarrett officiating. Music will be provided by Elizabeth Queen. Kenneth Bowers, Dustin Stewart, Chad Green, Chase Green, Wendell Brackett, Lonnie Maddox and Reggie Redd will serve as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 14 from 4-9 p.m. at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.

He will be laid to rest at the Haven of Rest Cemetery. 


Heuser, Valetta Jean (Rock Spring)

Valetta Jean Heuser, 93, of Rock Spring, died on Monday, May 20, 2013 in a local hospital. Mrs. Heuser was a charter member of Ft. James G. “Jaybird” Henderson, Sr., 66, of Chickamauga, died on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at his residence following a three-year battle with cancer.
