Robert Lebron "Bob" Townsend, 57, of Dalton, Ga., died Monday morning, May 14, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

Bob was born November 26, 1954 in Dalton, Ga. He was an active member of the Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis "Snuffy" Townsend, Sr.; and brothers, Charles, Troy and Steve Townsend. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Carol Hight Townsend of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Kristy Townsend; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Eric Jenkins, Brandi and Jason Babb ; grandchildren, Coleman Jenkins, Chase Jenkins, Ben Babb, Tucker Townsend and Ty Townsend; granddaughter at heart, Alise Hagan; mother, Edna Mae Dennison Townsend; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Catherine Hight; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cathy and Quintus Standridge, Cindy Hight, Donnie and Hazel Hight, Debbie Townsend; special friends, Kenneth and Faye Shelton, George and Linda Cross; special nephew, Josh Townsend; sister and brother-in-law, Selena Hice and Danny Sosebee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Curtis and Janice Townsend, Melvin Townsend and Randy and Pam Townsend; several other special nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends. 

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Robert Lebron "Bob" Townsend will be held Wednesday, May 16, at noon at the Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church with Reverend Eric Jenkins, Reverend Robert Beavers and Reverend Ronald Guffey officiating. Music will be arranged by Melinda Moss. He will be laid to rest at the West Hill Cemetery with Robbie Townsend, Coleman Jenkins, Chase Jenkins, Jason Babb, Josh Townsend and Josh Peek serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Quintus Standridge, Donnie Hight and Dwayne Scott. 

The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 15 and after 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16 at the Ponders Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.
