Joe Wallace Richey, 67, of Harrison, died on Monday, May 14, 2012.

Joe was born June 23, 1944 in Chattanooga and was a lifelong resident of Harrison. He was a member of the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department. He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic from the City of Chattanooga and was currently employed by Walmart in Ooltewah. Joe was also a member of the Harrison Masonic Lodge for many years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Mae Massingill and his father, Rex Richey.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Richey, two daughters, Donna (Max) Cockrell, Star Richey, three grandsons, Kyle Morgan, Matt Cockrell, and Dylan Barger, brother, Grady (Leisa) Massingill, all of Harrison, and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Bishop Dan Wolfe and Pastor Lloyd Harvill officiating. Interment will follow at New McDonald Cemetery in Ooltewah.

The family will receive friends 4–8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, at the funeral home.

Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talledega Avenue

City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge.
