Thomas Richard Castleman, of Hixson, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2012. He was 79.

Thomas was born in Harriman, Tn., and has been a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. He faithfully served our country during the Korean War and Vietnam Era and retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant, with over 32 years of service. Thomas was a longtime member of Middle Cross Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Richerson Castleman and Gladys Marie Holloway Castleman and a brother, Jack Castleman.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jane Adcock Castleman; two daughters, Pam Francois and her husband Gene and Cheryl Martin; five grandchildren, Becky, Eric, Stephanie, Tyler and Jaren and one great granddaughter, Madison; sisters, Carolyn Tidwell and Jenny Wilson and a brother, John Castleman; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, at the North Chapel.

A memorial service for Thomas will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 18, at National Cemetery with military honors and Reverend Edward Gravett officiating.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
