World War II Veteran Flew In Over 50 Missions

Eugene R. Shaw, 91, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2012.

He was born May 1, 1921 in Waco, Texas to L.P. and Louise Shaw. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lee Shaw, and sisters, Juanita Lee and Margie Stafford.

Mr. Shaw was a graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in textile engineering and spent his career in the textile industry.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran serving in WWII as a radio operator/ gunner flying in over 50 missions with the 344 Bombardment Squadron 98th bomb group in the 15^th Air Force.

Survivors include his son, Bruce Shaw, grandson, Ian Eugene Shaw, sisters, Jeannine Matar and Kathleen Langford

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to Hospice of Chattanooga.
