Betty S. Harvey, 79, of Ooltewah, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2012.

She was a member of Burks United Methodist Church.  A graduate of Hixson High, she retired from Interstate Life Insurance and Provident. 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mabel Harvey.  

She is survived by brothers, Charles (Ruth) Harvey of Hixson and Jim (Carole) Harvey of Little Rock, Ar., sister, Theresa Harvey of Ooltewah, niece, Nila (Jeff) Burt, nephew, Richard (Janet) Harvey, and great nephews, Alex and Isaac Harvey.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 18, and from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, at the North Chapel.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Reverend Nathan Malone officiating.  Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burks United Methodist Church, 6433 Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

A Chattanooga man was stabbed to death after an argument on Friday night.
