Here is the weekly road construction for Hamilton County:

I-24 resurfacing beginning at the Georgia State Line (LM 0.0/MM 171) to the bridge over Chattanooga Creek (LM 6.18/MM 177) including bridge deck repair: The contractor continues work on a resurfacing project on I-24 in Hamilton County between mile markers 171 – 177 in and around the Lookout Valley/Tiftonia area to the Georgia State Line.  This project includes resurfacing and bridge deck repairs.  Most of the work is scheduled to take place at night between the hours of 9 p.

m.-6 a.m. on Sundays through Thursdays. .Beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, the contractor will perform bridge deck repairs on I-24 West at Browns Ferry Road (MM 175) and U.S. 41/Cummings Highway (MM 174).  Traffic on I-24 West will be split into two 11-foot wide lanes at the site of the bridges, allowing the deck repair work to take place in the middle.  This work will continue for several days, and is slated to be complete on or before Wednesday morning.  Two lanes will be maintained during the daylight hours, but there are times that the interstate will be reduced to one lane as necessary.  Crews will reduce the interstate to one lane on Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 10 p.m. and ending by 9 a.m. the next morning, and Sunday through Tuesday nights beginning at 10 p.m. and ending by 6 a.m. the next morning.  Although there will be two lanes of traffic maintained for the majority of the time during the work, delays are still expected due to the narrow width of the lanes and speed limit reductions.  Wide loads will be required to follow posted signs and use the exit and entrance ramps at the bridges to bypass the narrow lanes in the work zone on I-24 West.  Because of the narrow lanes and no paved inside shoulder on I-24 as this work takes place, TDOT asks that drivers use extra caution, obey the posted speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in the work zone.  Motorists wishing to exit at the Browns Ferry Road or Lookout Valley exits are advised to stay in the right lane through the work zone.  One lane will remain open to traffic at all times.  THP will assist with traffic control.  Estimated completion date is July.  

I-75 design-build project from Enterprise South interchange (Exit 9) to SR-317 (Apison Pike) at Old Lee Hwy.:  Estimated completion date is May.  

U.S. 27 (SR-29) reconstruction project from Manufacturers Road (Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River) to U.S. 127 (SR-8, Signal Mountain Boulevard):  The contractor has implemented a traffic configuration on U.S. 27 South at the bridge over Signal Mountain Boulevard and permanent ramp closures on U.S. 27 South at Manning Street and Whitehall Road.  Vehicles on U.S. 27 South now merge into one lane on the bridge over Signal Mountain Boulevard, while vehicles entering U.S. 27 South from Signal Mountain Boulevard are using a dedicated lane to access the corridor.  Houser Street has been permanently closed as well.  Crews are currently working on U.S. 27 North and South on weeknights between the hours of 7PM top 6AM to set barrier rail and perform road work.  This nighttime work requires a right lane closure.  They continue work on widening several bridges and building retaining walls along U.S. 27 South.  At least one lane in each direction will remain open to traffic at all times.  THP will assist with traffic control as necessary.  Estimated completion date is October, 2014.  

College Drive East widening project from west of Sunkist Terrace to SR-317 (Apison Pike):  The contractor will be working on College Drive East throughout the project area placing barrier rail and installing erosion control items between 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  Flaggers will be in place to assist with traffic control.  Estimated project completion date is July.  

Shallowford Road widening project from Gunbarrel Road to Jenkins Road, including grading drainage, and paving:  The contractor is addressing numerous utility issues on the project.  Estimated project completion date is August, 2013.  

SR-60 construction of concrete slab bridge over branch (LM 0.44):  (This project is near the Meigs County Line.)  The contractor may be performing work throughout the project area between 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  Flaggers will assist with traffic control.  Estimated project completion date is November.  

Shallowford Road construction of concrete Bulb-Tee beam bridge over South Chickamauga Creek (LM 4.01), including grading drainage, and paving:  The contractor is constructing the new bridge and performing grading operations.  There will be no long-term lane closures as a result of this project.  Traffic has been shifted to Phase 1 of the new bridge while the original bridge is demolished and Phase 2 is completed.  The contractor may have intermittent short-term lane closures to perform bridge work during non-peak hours.  Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is June. 

U.S. 11 (SR-2, Lee Highway) construction of a concrete box beam bridge over the CSX Railroad (LM 16.25), including grading, drainage and paving:  The contractor has switched traffic and is working on phase 2 of the project consisting of performing erosion control measurements, grading operations and constructing the new bridge.  Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is June.  

Daugherty Ferry Road construction of a concrete box beam bridge, including grading, drainage and paving, over Sale Creek (LM 0.79):  The project to replace the truss bridge over Sale Creek is underway, and the contractor has closed Daugherty Ferry Road to traffic at the bridge for the duration of the project.  The detour route using Coulterville Road and Elesea Road will be clearly marked.  Estimated project completion date is November.
