Lovena Jo Temple Black, 86, of Soddy Daisy, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in a local health care facility.
Jo was a proud, faithful and longtime member of the Eastern Star, Lookout Valley Chapter and a member of the Episcopal faith. While her family and husband were fighting in World War II, she was supporting the home front and her family by working as what is known and remembered as “Rosy the Riverter” in World War II.
She worked at Hamilton National Bank; the Iincline Drug Store and Lookout Mountain Souvenir Shop.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Claude E. Black; brothers, Herman and Merl; sister, Hazel Wood and two adored nieces, Melba Sessions and Carol Temple.
Survivors include a brother, James H. Temple, Chattanooga; three nieces and one nephew; one grandniece and three grandnephews; one great-grandniece; two great-great-grandnephews; cousins and friends.
Services and burial will be private.
