Demetrius Antjuan “Meechie” Suggs, 28, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, May 13, 2012, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Martin County, Florida.  He was joined in death by his wife, Porcsha Davis Suggs; daughter, Rannisha Powell and stepdaughter, Mercydes Davis.  

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Cora Lee Suggs; aunt, Vickie Suggs; and grandfather, Charlie Brewer, Sr.  He attended Howard High School and then on to Jacob Creek Job Corp.  

He was a member of Greater New Hope Church of God in Christ and was employed by Pilgrim’s Pride.  

Survivors include his father, Claude (Vickie) Brewer; mother, Alice Suggs (Curtis) Harris; grandfather, Ben (Patricia) Suggs; grandmother, Ruth Johnson; brothers, David (Crystal) Hampton, Terrance Brewer, Timothy Harris, Curtis Morris and Titus Harris; sisters, Brittney, Leslie, Alyssa, Christina, Kayla Harris and Jactine Morris; uncles, Jarvis, Michael, Carlos Suggs, Larry (Gladius) Brewer, Charlie (Cynthia) Brewer, Timothy (Angela) Brewer, Jerome Brewer, Clark (Jennifer) Brewer, Patrick (Kim) Brewer and Nicholas (Teresa) Robinson; aunts, Avery, Tory, Sherrie Suggs, Mary (Gilbert) Armour, Gloria (Sam) King, Carol (Danny) Jones, Renee (Teddy) Findley and Sharon (Mike) Chambers; mother-in-law, Amanda (Emile Baltimore) Davis; father-in-law, Albert Davis; sisters-in-law, Latoya McComb and Brittney Davis; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; longtime devoted friends, Derrick England, Alvesta Hester, Adam Wiley and many other friends.  

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Walter L. Hambrick as the eulogist.

Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talledega Avenue

TBI was executing a narcotics search warrant at 6302Talladega Ave. in Chattanooga on Friday and uncovered a dog fighting operation. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge.
