GPS Netters Return to State

GPS defeated visiting Briarcrest, 5-0, Thursday in a state quarterfinal girls' tennis match and advance to BlueCross Spring Fling XIX  next week in Murfreesboro.

The winning Bruisers swept the three doubles matches for the one team point and then claimed four singles matches, all in straight sets, for the 5-0 decision with two matches stopped in progress.

Emma McCallie won her 12th match of the season (12-3) at No.2 singles to tie Mary Claire Spann (12-2) for most wins.  Jennie McBrayer stayed perfect (10-0) winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

The Bruisers improve to 12-3, while Briarcrest is 4-4.

Re-Match: Michelle Fleenor (GPS) and Erin Patton (Briarcrest), who did not complete their match Thursday at No.

1 singles, will meet in a state singles quarterfinal match on Thurs. May 24 at 11:30 a.m. EDT.

Christian Pineda Signs With Dalton State
