Salvation Army Gets Kids Ready For Camp With Medical Physicals On Saturday

Friday, May 18, 2012

In honor of National Salvation Army week, The Salvation Army will be hosting a Let’s Get Ready for Camp fair on Saturday, at the East Lake Salvation Army Center, at 2140 East 28th Street, at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and 28th Street, beginning at 9 a.m.

Medical personnel will be on hand for camp physicals, Salvation Army officers and volunteers will assist with camp applications and details will be available for community children to learn more on how they can experience a week long camping adventure at Camp Paradise Valley.

“For many of these kids, this is a character building experience that will remain with them for a lifetime,” said Associate Area Commander, Major Teresa Newsome.

“This camp is made possible by the generosity of the Tennessee Valley community,” said Development Director Kimberly George, who knows first hand what an incredible opportunity this is for the campers growing up attending Salvation Army summer camps herself.

The weeklong camp located on the border of Tennessee and Kentucky on Dale Hollow Lake, is a week filled with boating, swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, and spiritual guidance. The Salvation Army of the Chattanooga area will be providing camp for 100 children all together before the end of the summer.

For additional information please contact Kimberly George, director of Development and Marketing at 308-7715 or  Kimberly_George@uss.salvationarmy.org.

Monetary donations can be mailed to The Salvation Army, 822 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37403 or made online at www.csarmy.org.
