Brackets Released For Spring Fling Soccer Championships

The 2012 road the the state soccer championship begins on Tuesday for four area soccer teams.  TSSAA released the brackets on Sunday morning.

Defending Class A/AA state champions Chattanooga Christian will play the top ranked team in the state on Tuesday in CAK at 7:30.  The blind draw (with the exception of district and region teams being placed on opposite sides of the bracket) pit two of the top two teams in the state in the first round.

 Notre Dame will open with David Lipscomb on Tuesday at 4:30.  Semifinals will be played at 4:30 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday. 

Both Baylor and McCallie qualified for the Division IIAA state semifinals.  Baylor will play Christian Brothers on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and McCallie will play Father Ryan at 7:30 on Wednesday. 

 The Division IIAA championship game will be played just 24.5 hours later on Thursday at 7 p.m.

 All games are played at the Richerd Seigel Soccer Complex in Murfreesboro, TN.


Baylor Softball Forces Second Game With Pope John Paul II

McCallie Holding Slim Lead In D-II Track After Field Events

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The McCallie Blue Tornado track team qualified at least one athlete for all six field events, so it's not much of a surprise they were holding a five-point lead over Brentwood Academy after five of those first six events had been completed. Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talledega Avenue

TBI was executing a narcotics search warrant at 6302Talladega Ave. in Chattanooga on Friday and uncovered a dog fighting operation. Officials said it consisted of numerous pit bills, a fight ring, a treadmill and blood-stained carpets and paneling. Mcckamey Animal Services personnel were processing the fight scene. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
