Amos Gunn, Sr., 90, of Lanett, Ala., died on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He served his county in the US Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Willie Marzilla Barrow Gunn; two sons, Eddie Charles Gunn and Roger Gunn; adopted daughter, Evelyn Ward; siblings, Maggie L Heath, Jimmy Gunn, Essie Lee Webb, Alberta Powell and Willie D. Gunn.
Survivors include his children, Amos (Vickie) Gunn, Jr., Robert Gunn, both of Detroit, Mi.; Alex (Deborah) Gunn of Chattanooga; Eric Gunn of Atlanta; adopted son, Ronald (Beverly) Beasley of Detroit; Willie Mae Weaver, Marie Greene, Gail Ramsey, Roberta (Wilbert) Wheeler of Chattanooga; Mary Watts, Detroit, MI; Linda Hill of Los Angeles, Ca., and Sallie (Ray) Thomas of Newnan, Ga.; sister-in-law, Rosie E. Gunn, Roanoke, Ala.; brother-in-law, Al Overton, Chicago; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two-great-great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, at 1 p.m. CST at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Pastors Darrel Jordan and Michael Stiggers, officiating. Interment will be in Mitchell Springs Cemetery.
