Fleischmann Continues "Chuck On The Job" Inititative, Working Jobs He Did Growing Up

  • Monday, May 21, 2012

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann will continue his "Chuck on the Job" initiative this Thursday, at McDonald's in Kingston. Congressman Fleischmann took a job mopping floors at McDonald's for $2.10 per hour when he was 17.

He said, "I have enjoyed the dozen jobs I have worked over the last 16 months as I have heard first-hand from employers and employees the hardships they face every day in this economy. I have learned so much from those I have worked with that has helped me do my job better on behalf of small businesses in this country. I am looking forward to working at McDonald's as I hear more from those who are the backbone of our economy, and relive many of the memories made, and lessons learned, working at McDonald's as a teenager."

From a young boy overcoming the loss of his mother, to living on his own at 16, to mopping the floor of a McDonald's, to working in a library, to starting a business with his wife and finally becoming a member of Congress, Rep. Fleischmann has lived the American dream. Officials said, "He ran for office so he could try to bring that American dream that he’s been privileged to be a part of, to you, to your family and to your grandchildren."
