Christine Hansard Cowart, 90, of Rossville, Georgia, died on Sunday, May 20, 2012.
Christine was born in Midway, Ga. on Aug. 14, 1921, as the eldest of six children. She graduated from Milton High School and Reinhardt College.
Christine and her husband, James, raised their family while living 17 years in Rome, Ga., and after relocating to Rossville in 1966, she worked for many years for State Farm Insurance Company.
Christine sang in the church choir while living in Rome, and up until the time of her death, was an active
member of Brainerd United Methodist Church. She was dedicated to her friends and weekly exercise class and was an avid gardener, bird watcher and pianist. She was the definition of a gracious Southern lady and could always be counted on for encouragement and support. She thoroughly enjoyed being a grandmother and a great grandmother and will be missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Cowart; and brothers, William Hansard and James Hansard.
Survivors include three sisters, Claudine Casey, Betty Mansell, and Bert Johnston; two sons, James (Rachel) and David (Sandy) Cowart, five grandchildren, Zachary (Laurie), Mary, Holly, Carol, Alicia, and Courtney Cowart; and two great-grandchildren, (Harper, Ella) Cowart.
The body will be taken to Roswell Funeral Home where services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Malone Dodson officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.
