Notre Dame Girls Tennis Makes State Finals

MURFREESBORO 5/22/12 -- The perfect season continues for Notre Dame tennis (13-0) as the Irish girls defeated Page, 4-0, here this morning in a BlueCross Spring Fling XIX state semifinals match to advance to Wednesday's final at 10 a.m. EDT at Old Fort Park.

Katie and Sarah Joyce posted wins at Nos. 1-2 singles, while Danika Dorris and Allyson Ross won at Nos. 4-5.

At No.3 singles, Brenna Minyard of Page led Callie Voges,  6-1, 4-3 but the match was stopped since the overall team match had reached a decision.

Notre Dame goes for its first state girls team championship in tennis after a state runner-up finish in 1985.  Notre Dame boys were co-champs in 1963 and 1964.
