MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Having the BlueCross Spring Fling here this week will bring in an estimated $3.5 million to Rutherford County.
"We have sold literally every hotel room in the county for Spring Fling,'' Convention and Visitors Bureau vice-president Mona Herrick told the Daily News Journal.
Baylor track and field coach Bill McMahan arrived here with his team Sunday night. They rented rooms at the Vista Inn.
"It's not the Embassy Suites, but with 21 to 22 gils and four or five coaches ehre, at $70 a room, you have to think about the money,'' he told the Murfreesboro paper.
The annual Spring Fling features state high school championships in baseball, softball, track and field, soccer and tennis.
Rutherford County officials estimate between 4,500 and 5,000 athletes and around 30,000 spectators will be here for the competition.
