Harold Franklin Blakemore, 80, of Chickamauga, Ga., died on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.
He had lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas for most of his life and was a member of Peach Orchard Baptist Church. He was an Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and retired from Corley Manufacturing in 1994 after more than 36 years as a Machinist. He was a member of the Crawfish Springs Masonic Lodge #300 F&AM and was active in helping disabled children with the Shriners and St. Judes associations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Gladys Blakemore; and sister, Barbara Phillips.
Survivors include his loving wife of more than 60 years, Juanita Blakemore of Chickamauga; two sons & daughters-in-law, Ronnie Lynn & (Monetta) Blakemore and Billy Wayne & (Vickie) Blakemore; brother, James “Buddy” Blakemore all of Rossville; two sisters & brothers-in-law, Delores Shaw & (Robert) McMinn of Chattanooga and Jean & (Kenneth) Maynor of Fort Oglethorpe; four grandchildren, Donnie Blakemore, Chasta Cagle, Kelly Lynn Blakemore and Denise Hargis; four great- grandchildren, Brandi Nicole Blakemore, Billy Wayne Blakemore, McKenzie Cagle and Blake Cagle; two great-great-grandchildren, Aiden & Dada Conley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. James Davis and Rev. David Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens with a Masonic Service.
The family will begin receiving friends after 3 p.m. Thursday, May 24, all day Friday, May 25 and prior to the service on Saturday, May 26 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
