Family Mission Camp Coming At St.Timothy's Episcopal, Signal Mountain

Thursday, May 24, 2012

Family Missions Camp 2012 at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 630 Mississippi Ave., Signal Mountain, will be Sunday, June 3, through Thursday, June 7, from 5-8 p.m. for all children, youth and adults. The theme for this year is kindness, exploring God's requirement for being kind to animals, earth and people. Each fun-filled night will include music, activities, lessons and a mission which will match the theme for that evening.

On the Be Kind to Animals Night, there will be a visit from Noah's Little Ark petting zoo, they will make bird feeders and dog treats with 12 Paws and participate in art activities and Bible stories. The mission for that night will be helping McKamey Animal Care and Adoption Center, who will be visiting and collecting supplies and donations for the center.

Programs are age specific and are inclusive to everyone. There will be a separate program for each age group: children/young  youth ages 3 to rising 8th graders, older youth for 9th through 12th grades, and adults. A nursery will be  provided for infants and toddlers.

One of the components of the youth and adult programs will be the book, "A Teacher's Prayer," by Tammy Mentzer Brown. She will be speaking to both groups Sunday, June 3.  A light dinner will be served each night from 5-5:45. The Men of St. Timothy's will be hosting a cookout for the finale celebration Thursday, June 7. There is no fee for the camp, but donations are welcomed.

Roy Exum: Hypocrisy And Horses

I am still wincing over the fact a horrendous bill passed in the state legislature that would make whistle-blowers into criminals would have actually gone into law had it not been for Governor Bill Haslam’s eleventh-hour veto. Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
