Renee Peek Holmes, 56, of  LaFayette, Ga., died  Friday  May  25,  2012.

She  was  employed  with  the  Walker  County  Board  of  Education and was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived  by  husband, Gene  Holmes; parents,  Richard  and  Jeanene   Peek;  daughters, Susan  DeBord and Yvonne  (Michael)  Beech; sons, Trey (Larissa)  Narmore and Billy (Beth)  Narmore; sister,  Annette (Rodney) Webb; brother, Ricky (Jamie  Logan-Peek); nine  grandchildren,   Sam  Narmore,  Dakota  Green,  Christian  Narmore,   Shelby  Narmore,  Trevor  DeBord, Erin  Portwood,  Caitlen  Narmore,  Skyler  DeBord and Autumn  Beech;  one  great- grandchild,  Bentley  Narmore; special  sister, Kathy  Sisemore;  special  buddy,  Jax; and niece  and  nephew  Dustin  &  Devan  Peek.

Funeral  will be from  the  Wallis  Memorial  Chapel  Sunday, May 27  at  3 p.m.,  conducted  by  Rev.  Todd  Smith  and  Rev.  Lowell  Cantrell. Pallbearers  are  Kenny  Lida,  Ronnie  Patterson,  Robert  Rice,  Scott  Peek,  Barry  DeBord,  Stacy  Meeks and  Matt  DeBord. Honorary  pallbearers  are  Sam,  Christian,  Dustin  and  Trevor. Interment will be in  LaFayette  Memory  Garden.

The  family  will  receive  friends  at the funeral home Saturday, May 26  from  5-9 p.m.

The  arrangements  are  by  Wallis-Wilbanks  Funeral  Home  of  LaFayette.

Keenan Scott Slaughter, 52, of Jasper, TN, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Slaughter and Millie Duvall Sloan. He was an employee of Lowes Home Improvement Store in Kimball, TN. William “Bill” Wills Dowdy, 82, died on May 23, at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, following a very brief illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Brownsville, Tn., to the late Arvil Odell Dowdy and Alma Juanita Bright Dowdy. Bill was a graduate of Red Bank High School. Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Erlanger Hospital by LifeForce helicopter about 3:15 a.m. The driver was transported by Hamilton County EMS. It is believed he had non-life threatening injuries. ... City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
