Betty Q. Vandergriff, 75, of Hixson, died on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at a local health care facility. 

She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a very humble lady and will be sadly missed by her family. She retired from Hall, Haynes, Lusk, and Foster in 2006 after 40 years of service. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Vandergriff, parents, Roy and Evadna McAfee Qualls, brother, Dorliss L. Qualls.

She is survived by her son, Doug (Maria) Vandergriff of Abingdon, Va., daughter, Sharon (Junior) Vandergriff Potter of Hixson, brother, Charles (Marlene) Qualls, sisters, Sandra (Brad) Hogue, Mary R. Alexander, Jimmie Jo Holland, all of Soddy Daisy, Anne (Chester) Lockhart of Oakland, Ga., brother-in-law, Joe (Martha) Vandergriff, sister-in-law, Lois V. Lewis of Hixson, grandchildren, Mark Potter, Brian Potter, Jenny Potter, Sarah Vandergriff, Rachel V. Robinson, great-grandchildren, Jordon Potter, several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Mike Combs and the Reverend Curtis Henderson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Friendship Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge.
