Federal Authorities Again Decline In "Whistleblower" Lawsuit Against Erlanger

Thursday, May 03, 2012

Federal authorities, for the second time recently, have declined to intervene in a "whistleblower" lawsuit brought against Erlanger Health System.

This litigation was brought in the Middle District of Tennessee  by an outside advisor from 2006, and relates to billing practices from 2005 and 2006.

Charlsetta Woodard-Thompson, Erlanger CEO, said, "The court has now unsealed the qui tam lawsuit and Erlanger is prepared to vigorously defend itself against the former advisor’s allegations.

"Erlanger takes all legal matters and allegations of this sort very seriously, and has worked very closely with government officials throughout their investigation.

"Erlanger is confident in our billing procedures and compliance programs.  This lawsuit does not question the quality of care at Erlanger. Our organization remains committed to its mission of serving this community and going above and beyond to meet the healthcare needs of our patients."
