The three-year-old girl who was shot near the left eye Wednesday morning at a home in Bradley County, and later died has been identified as Kydalynn Roblater.
She was the granddaughter of Tennessee State Patrol Lt. Tommie Graham.
Col. Tracy Trott, Patrol commander, said, “The Tennessee Highway Patrol would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to Lieutenant Tommie Graham and his family during this difficult time. The death of his family member was a tragic accident, and Lt. Graham is cooperating fully with Bradley County Sheriff’s Officers during the investigation.
We do not anticipate any disciplinary action internally. However, any decisions will be made pending the outcome of the investigation.”
Trooper Graham, who is assigned to Bradley County, is a 34-year patrol veteran.
His daughter and the granddaughter were living with him in a gated subdivision off Old Parksville Road.
The initial call to 911 was received by the communications center at 10:33 a.m. Patrol deputies and detectives responded and arrived within minutes.
The residence was 141 Benwood Trail in eastern Bradley County.
Initial investigation shows the three-year-old and a two-year-old cousin were playing when they apparently found the .45 caliber handgun. The girl’s mother was also home and called 911.
Detectives collected forensic evidence and are continuing the investigation. At this time the incident appears to be accidentally self-inflicted, authorities said.
