William Clark

William Jennings Clark, 72, died on Friday, April 27 in Chattanooga.  

He was born May 18, 1939 to the late Milton W. Clark and Beatrice Davis Clark in Kensington, Ga., Walker County.  He was a member of First Corinthian Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Benford Clark; son, William Clark, Jr.; daughter, Doris Benford; brothers, Robert Clark and Herbert Clark.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Clark; son, Larry (Tonya) Clark; adopted son, Keontae Clark , Chattanooga; stepsons, Cornelius Broadnax, Calhoun, GA and Stephen Mobley,  Chattanooga; daughters, Gail Clark, Melissa (Therron) Benson, Chattanooga; stepdaughter, LaToya Vaught , Chattanooga; brothers, Willie B Clark, Chattanooga; and Roy (Lillie) Clark, Dalton, Ga.; sisters, Gracie Stamper, Rossville; Eula McLin, Chickamauga; Carolyn Jackson, Uhrichsville, Oh.; mother-in-law, Emma Broadnax, Chattanooga; aunts, Viola Shelton, Chattanooga; Maude Davis, Nashville; Forrest Wilson, Kensington, Ga.; Bessie Morris, Chattanooga; uncle, Hoover Clark, New Philadelphia, Oh.; sisters-in-law, Alanda Clark, Missouri Benford, Chattanooga; Hattie Mae Clark, Detroit, Michigan; Wanda Norris, Terri Broadnax, Chattanooga; brother-in-law, Steven Broadnax, Chattanooga; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 7, at National Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon on Sunday, May 6, with the family receiving friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
