Janice Elaine Redwine Eleton, 69, of Dalton, Ga., died on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at her residence.
She was born February 24, 1943 in Chattanooga, to George Washington Redwine and Mary Lee Nicholson Redwine. Janice gave her life to God and was a faithful servant and follower of Jesus Christ. At the young age of 15, she voluntarily began work at The Federal Bakery in Chattanooga to help supplement family income. She later worked at the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. in East Ridge, Tennessee and A & W Root Beer in Rossville and Dalton. Since the early 1970’s, Janice co-owned and managed King Door Company of Dalton. Although she was a very intelligent business woman, she was first a loving wife, mama, daughter, grandmama and sister. Janice had a compassionate heart and her life’s calling was to help others in need and those less fortunate. Through her deeds she touched the lives of many. She was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed until they meet again.
She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Lee Redwine and was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Marie Redwine; brother, Gaylon Lamar Redwine; and grandson, Tommy Lee Gentry. Janice is survived by her loving husband, Earl Eleton of Dalton; daughters, Tammy Merritt of Luttrell, Tn. and Florene Gentry of Dalton; sons, Channing Eleton and Cameron Eleton both of Dalton; grandchildren, Millee Eleton, Cheyenne and Chanler Eleton, Blake Merritt, Hannah Merritt, Andrew Merritt, Jeramy Gentry and Brandy McCullough; four great-grandchildren; brother, Michael Redwine of Dalton; uncle, Jake Redwine of Birmingham, Ala.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at the Church of God of the Union Assembly with the Rev. Trey Starnes, Michael Redwine and Channing Eleton officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Saturday, May 5 from 5-9 p.m. and on Sunday, May 6 from 2-7 p.m. She will also lie in state at the church 1 hour prior to service at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 7.
