Grace Hamill, 85, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Thursday, May 3, 2012.

Grace retired as a waitress with the Towne and Country Restaurant after 34 years.

She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Birchwood, Tennessee.

She was the daughter of the late Swan Dyke Eldridge and Rena Burns Eldridge and was preceded in death by her husband, Bert S. Hamill, daughter, Margie Hughes, brother, Doc Eldridge and her sidekick Edith Thomas.

Survivors include her two daughters, Rena Sanderson, of Chickamauga, Ga., Candy (Jeff) Hamill, of Chattanooga, seven grandchildren, Loletia Johnson, Sammy Shoemake, Kathy Shoemake, Tara Sanderson, Ava Shoemake, David Sanderson, Grace Johnson, several great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, brother, James Shelton, of Cleveland, Tn., and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 7, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, with Reverend Johnny Jones officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2–8 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Liberty Baptist Church.

Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge.
