Dr. Bernard Michael Levy, 84, son of the late Dr. Nathan Levy and Pearl Novack Levy, died on May 5, 2012 at his house in Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
Bernard was born August 4, 1927 in Brooklyn, Kings County, N.Y. In the Navy, he served aboard the U.S.S. Philippine Sea.
Dr. Levy graduated from Columbia School of Chiropractic, after which he opened a chiropractic office in Brooklyn, N.Y. Later, he moved to Middletown, N.Y., where he practiced chiropracticics for over 50 years. He served as chairman of the Town of Wallkill, N.Y. Planning Board for 20 years. A 52-year member of Hoffman Lodge #412 F & AM, he served as Master in 1989 and 1997.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lenore Levy (nee Laurence), three daughters: Sara Maloney, her husband Timothy of Signal Mountain and their children, Adrienne, Jason and Jordan; Nicolette Bakker, her husband Michiel of Brussels, Belgium and their children Brian and Andrew; and Lisa Romanchik, her husband Joseph of Signal Mountain and their children Stephanie and Brooke; and two sons: Laurence Levy, his wife Kristen of Roanoke, Va., and their children Elizabeth, Catherine and Ann Clare; and Mark Levy of Knoxville.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 12:30pm at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. William E. Dudley officiating.
His family will receive friends at 11 a.m. before the service.
Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
