Edwin Leon Wallace, Sr., 71 of Chickamauga, died on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at his residence.  

He was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Wallace was a Mason and a member of the Crawfish Springs Lodge # 300 F&AM. He retired in 2000 from Synthetic Industries as a truck driver with over 25 years of service. Prior to working at Synthetic he and his brothers owned and operated the Lee and Gordon Mill. His passions in life were his wife, children, grandchildren, and enjoying the great outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arville Wallace; and sister, Glenda Forester.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Peggy Wallace; children, Janice Adkins, Leon Wallace, Jr., Kevin Wallace, Shane Helton, Erica Helton, Tyler Shaw, and Zoey Shaw; brothers, Joe and Jerry Wallace; sister, Joyce Henry; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen at 727 E. 11th St., Chattanooga, Tn. 37403.

There will be a private family memorial service held at a later date.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
