Alice Wilson
Alice Wilson

Alice Virginia MacDonald Wilson died on May 5, 2012, at the age of 87.

Alice was born and grew up in Norfolk, Virginia.  She married A. C. Wilson and moved to Chattanooga in 1946. She was an active member of Concord Baptist Church for 66 years and worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital for 25 years.  Alice’s kindness, grace and love knew no bounds.  She nurtured close friendships with many people, some for over 80 years. She cared for her physically handicapped son Jack until his death in 2005, and for all of her family whenever and however she could.  She created a home where everyone was welcomed, accepted, supported, and loved.  We rejoice that Alice now has had her own homecoming, and has begun her new life in Christ.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, A. C. Wilson, her son, Jack Wilson, her parents, Clyde H. MacDonald and Virginia Taylor, and her brother, Clyde MacDonald.

She is survived by her son, Jim Wilson, and her daughters and their spouses, Virginia and Mike Barlew, and Sue and John Coulter. She also is survived by her grandsons and their families, Jeff Barlew and Laurie Greco; David and Jane Coulter and their children, Sean, Jake and Riley; and Thomas and Mary Coulter.

The family will receive friends at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Brainerd Chapel, 8214 East Brainerd Road from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, and from 12-1 p.m. on Thursday, May 10.

The funeral service will be held at the same location at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, with the Reverend Dr. David King officiating. The committal service will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
