Soddy Daisy High Region Champs Dominate TNSCTP Region III Varsity

The Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program held the Region III Skeet and Sporting Clays Championship this weekend, and it was hosted by Craig and Dawn Sheaffer at Montlake Classic Clays.  Region III consists of teams from Soddy Daisy, Cumberland County, Bradley County (Walker Valley), Sale Creek, Monroe County, Fairview, Christ Legacy, and Heritage.  The skeet tournament was held on Saturday and the Sporting Clays was held on Sunday.
 
Coached by Trevor Fuller, Butch Allen,and Mike Gray, a well prepared Soddy Daisy High School team dominated the varsity division both days by taking every varsity award, winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each style, as well as high overall awards.
  Soddy Daisy Blue Squad (Paxton Pelfrey, Austin Gravitt, and Blake Dunn) won the varisty skeet championship with a score of 281/300.  Soddy Daisy Gold (Sam Sadowitz, Mitch Pelfrey, and Zach Coleman) won 2nd with a score of 243, and Soddy Daisy White Squad (Morgan Fulghum, Mitch Smith, and Heather Christian) won 3rd place with a score of 237.  Paxton Pelfrey won the High Overall Award with an outstanding high score of 96/100, and Austin Gravitt won the High Overall Runner Up with a score of 93/100.  In the 9th grade division, the Soddy Daisy Squad of Erica Dunn, Cody Hedgecoth, Dakota Davis, and Savannah Davis won the Runner Up Spot, while Erica Dunn won the High Overall Female Award with an 81, and beat the High Overall Male who had a score of 80.  Cody Hedgecoth won High Overall Runner Up with a score of 79.
 
In the Sporting Clays Championship, the Soddy Daisy Blue Squad won the varsity tournament with Sheldon Rodgers shooting 90. Paxton Pelfrey 87, and Blake Dunn 92 for a combined team score of 269.  Austin Gravitt shot in the alternate individual tournament and won first place with 88.  The High Overall Award went to Blake Dunn with 92 and Sheldon Rodgers won Runner Up honors with a 91.  Soddy Daisy Gold won 2nd place and Soddy Daisy White placed 3rd.  In the 9th grade division, Erica Dunn won High Overall Female and Cody Hedgecoth won the High Overall Runner Up Award.
 
The Soddy Daisy High School Clay Target team will now begin to prepare for the Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program State Tournamnet that will be held at the Nashville Gun Club June 18-19.

Robertson Leading At Signal Mountain

Matt Robertson shot 2-under 69 on Friday and took the opening-round lead in the 77th Signal Mountain Inviational a the Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club.   In the field of 129 players, Robertson leads by one stroke over Riley Davidson. Beachy Begins Rehab At Gwinnett Sunday

The Atlanta Braves made a surprise announcement Friday that rehabbing pitcher Brandon Beachy, working his way back from "Tommy John" surgery, will be making his first rehab start Sunday at Class AAA Gwinnett instead of at extended spring training.
