Chattanooga State's Czechner Tosses Perfect Game In Region Opener

Ashley Czechner tossed a perfect game for top-ranked Chattanooga State in the region tournament opener Monday afternoon. 

The Lady Tigers defeated Jackson State 9-0 in the five-inning game.

Chattanooga State is hosting the Region VII tournament for both softball and baseball.

Lacye Walker, former Grace Academy standout,  homered and doubled to lead the Lady Tiger offense.

Marina Wilkerson had three hits, including a double,  from her lead-off position.

MeQuilla Franklin had a double and triple. 

Chattanooga State also got a double from Chelsea Burgess.

The Lady Tigers had 12 hits in the game that was shortened by the eight-run rule.

Jackson State committed five errors.

Chattanooga State scored three in the first, one in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth.

In earlier softball action, Cleveland State lost to Columbia State 5-0.

Casey Christen had the only hit for Cleveland State in the seven-inning game.

Cleveland State will face Jackson State in the losers bracket Monday at 6 p.m.

Chattanooga State will be back in action Tuesday morning when they face Columbia at 10 a.m.
