Increased Patrols & Alert Citizens Lead To Car Break-In Arrest In East Ridge

East Ridge Police responded to 3520 Shelby Circle on Monday, at approximately 12:10 p.m. in reference to an auto burglary in progress. The victim stated she observed two white males, one of whom was inside her vehicle prying her stereo from the dash. The victim stated the suspects fled the scene after being confronted. 

A witness to the incident told police that she knew one of the suspects as Michael Helton, 30, of East Ridge.

During the investigation, Helton was questioned about the incident and was subsequently transported to the Hamilton County Jail where he was charged with burglary of an auto and vandalism. 

He is scheduled to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Tuesday, May 15, at 5 p.m. 

This investigation is ongoing and police are looking at possible connections to other recent auto burglaries in the area. Further arrests are expected.
