Chattanooga State baseball dropped to the losers bracket of the Region VII tournament it is hosting after suffering a 9-7 loss to Dyersburg State on Monday afternoon.
The Tigers will play Motlow State on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Cleveland State, after a win over Motlow on Sunday, will face Walters State on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Dyersburg State got to Chattanooga State starter Tyler McClure for two runs in the second after he had retired the first four batters. The Eagles broke out for six runs in the third.
Carson Bryant pitched four scoreless innings for Chattanooga State, but the Eagles were able to get another run late.
The Tigers knotted the game at 2-2 before the Eagles had the big third. Then Zach Zarzour drove in two runs to close the gap to 8-5. He was out trying to stretch a double into a triple.
Chattanooga State got within striking distance in the eighth, getting the bases loaded. Daniel Tucker brought in one score on a squeeze bunt, then another came in on a groundout to first. Dyersburg then got a flyout with the tying run on second.
