Walker County voters are invited and encouraged to attend the official opening of Dr. Paul Shaw’s campaign headquarters for his bid to become Walker County’s last sole commissioner.
Supporters will gather Tuesday at 7 p.m., at Dr. Shaw’s former medical offices, 611 N Main St. in LaFayette, Ga. to reload supplies of campaign signs and other materials for the July 31 Republican primary.
Updates will also be given on the progress of the campaign and ideas welcomed for upcoming meetings and strategies.
The headquarters will be open to Walker County voters from 5-6 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays for campaign information and literature.
The LaFayette office was the home of a 30-year medical practice by Dr. Shaw as a family physician. The Walker County native left only once, for six months, to serve as a combat physician during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After returning, he completed his service to the community ending with more than 200,000 office visits.
He is now answering the call to run for the office of Walker County Commissioner for one term of office to perform political triage on indebtedness, runaway taxes and spending, a lack of transparency, public safety issues, and the opportunity to offer Walker County voters the chance to decide on whether to adopt a five-person commission for county governance.
