For the fifth year in a row, the Chattanooga Area Soap Box Derby will be holding its local qualifying event on Saturday.

The soap box derby is a gravity-powered racing event for girls and boys between the ages of seven to 17. Participation in the soap box derby provides a child with lessons in craftsmanship, the use of tools, and sportsmanship.

Competitors will compete in both the stock and superstock divisions on Saturday at the track located at the Redoubt Soccer Complex off of Bonny Oaks Drive. The winners of the Chattanooga race will compete in the world championships in Akron, Ohio in July. The event is family-friendly, open to the public and is free of charge.

Information can be obtained at the soap box derby's national website, www.aasbd.com.

Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
