St. Paul's Senior Choir Presents Choral Evensong May 17

Tuesday, May 08, 2012

The St. Paul's Senior Choir will present Choral Evensong at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 305 W. 7th St., Thursday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m.

The musical offerings are, in part, an homage to the late Gerre Hancock, renowned composer and organist known for his skill at improvisation, who died in January of this year.  Dr. Keith Reas, director of Music at St. Paul’s, will play Hancock’s Air for organ as the prelude. The Senior Choir will present Hancock’s anthem, O King enthroned on high, and will sing Psalm 24 using one of his Anglican chants.

Other music includes:
Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in A by Herbert Sumsion.
Preces and Responses by William Smith
Phos Hilaron by Ronald Arnatt

Fanfares, for organ – Calvin Hampton

A free will offering will be taken with all funds directed to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.  A reception will follow Choral Evensong in Key-Andrews Fellowship Hall.
