The Notre Dame boys soccer team were on their heals Tuesday night in their District 7A/AA semifinal match with Signal Mountain but were able to rally from a goal down to win 3-1.
In the elimination game, Signal Mountain not only came with plans to continue their season in the district final on Thursday but they came with hopes of avenging an early 5-2 loss to Notre Dame.
With the game tied at zero through the first half, Signal Mountain's Patrick Shumaker scored the first goal of the game five minutes into the second half. The Eagles led until the 66th minute when Tyler Robertson sent a hard cross into the box and a Signal Mountain defender kicked it into their own goal to tie the game at one.
11 minutes later, Signal Mountain cleared the ball over the endline giving the Irish a corner kick. Blake DiStefano's corner sailed over the face of the goal to Wes Blanton on the far post. Blanton redirected the ball for the goal ahead goal.
One minute later, Brian Delaney finished off a serious of shots and saves with an insurance goal, giving the Irish a 3-1 win.
Notre Dame advances to play CCS on Thursday in the District 7A/AA final. CCS beat Notre Dame 1-0 in their regular season match.
CCS beat Sequatchie 10-0 in the other semifinal game on Tuesday.
