Getting hit by a pitch, hitting a ball off your body, or crashing into the wall trying to make a catch illustrate the many ways in which players can suffer injuries in the game of professional baseball.
In Tuesday’s game at AT&T Field, two players experienced very painful, though temporary injuries.
Chattanooga outfielder Kyle Russell hit a wicked ball off the inside of his right foot and Montgomery left-fielder Kyeong Kang was hit-by-a-pitch in the game. Russell, who has already spent 10-days on the disabled list, and Kang both dropped to the ground but eventually fought off the pain and were able to remain in the game. Kang later suffered an injury to his leg when he slid into home.
The Biscuits beat the Lookouts, 6-1. Kang, who scored a run, went 1-for-4 with an RBI while Russell was 1-for-3 in the game.
Montgomery and Chattanooga play Game 4 of their current five-game set Wednesday. Game time is 11:15 a.m.
