Giles, Sophia Sue

Sophia Sue Giles, 94, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Memorial North Park Hospital. Sue received the last rites of the Catholic Church. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Giles. Sue was the daughter of Johannes Livorki and Marcella Deyert Livorki and sister of Helen P. Cannon. 

She attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School and Church where she was valedictorian of her class. Sue was married to John Joseph Giles moving to Chattanooga in the early 1970’s. Sue retired from Olan Mills Studio and continued working in medical nursing for 22 years. Sue had many friends and loving members of the William David and Mary Helen Giles family.

Services will be held on Monday, June 4, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Monsignor George Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Larry Wagonblant, Marty Borrows, Joseph Borrows, Mike Farmer and Larry Farmer serving as pallbearers.

Rogers, 20, Shot Twice While Standing On His Porch

A 20-year-old man was shot twice while standing on his porch on Monday night. At approximately 8:44 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a shooting that occurred in the 1900 block of Walker Street.
