Woman And 2 Dogs Saved From Burning House In Hixson

A woman and her two dogs were saved from a burning house Monday evening in Hixson. 

A 911 call was received at 7:15 p.m. by the homeowner, Anna Pat Cyrus, reporting a kitchen fire at 6721 St. Claire Way (Laurel Cove Subdivision) in Hixson. 

The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene and was informed by neighbors Ms. Cyrus went back in the house to retrieve her two dogs and was unable to get back downstairs due to being overcome with smoke. 

Firefighters Adam Ward and Kendall Jacobs entered the home and rescued Mrs. Cyrus and the two dogs from the second floor. She was treated on the scene by Hamilton County EMS but was not transported to the hospital. 

Firefighter Tiffany Gensemer conducted an initial attack on the fire in the kitchen and contained the fire from spreading throughout the rest of the home. 

The cause of the fire is undetermined and damages are listed at $10,000. Ms. Cyrus was insured and will stay at temporary housing with her two dogs.

Police Told Stabbing Victim At Motel Was Trying To Force His Way Into Room

Police said a fatal stabbing at the Country Hearth Suites on E. 20th Street came after an argument over a dice game. William Morris Jr., 66, is charged in the Friday night death of Alexis Lewis, 51. Baylor's Popp Wins First Spring Fling State Title
