Tracy Malone Hired As East Ridge Football Coach

Tracy Malone has been hired to succeed Mike Martin as the head football coach at East Ridge High School.

Martin resigned last month.

Malone is a former McMinn County native who began his career on Gary Rankin's staff at Murfreesboro Riverdale High School. While at Riverdale, the team reached three state championship games and won the Class AAA title in 2001.

Malone has also served as head coach at Ardmore, Ala., and White County. He guided White County to back-to-back playoff seasons.

The Middle Tennessee graduate likes the shot-gun offense and 4-3 defense.
