Carolyn Smith Garrett, 65, of Birchwood, died on Sunday June 10, 2012. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle “Whitey” Garrett and was of the Baptist faith. She was dearly loved and her beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Lowe of Birchwood; her sons, Mark Garrett and his wife Tammy and Shane Garrett all of Birchwood; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces nephews and cousins; and countless friends.

A Remembrance of life service will be held 11a.m. Wednesday, June 13 at the North Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Dr. James Hutchings and Rev. Johnny Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Bald Hill Cemetery with Jeremy Howard, Randall Gray, Johnny Sims, Henry Hardin, Jason Cook, Danny Gray, Josh Cook and Eddie Gray serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 12 from 4-9 p.m. at the North Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes who has charge of the arrangements.

Valetta Jean Heuser, 93, of Rock Spring, died on Monday, May 20, 2013 in a local hospital. Mrs. Heuser was a charter member of Ft.
